About

After five years of learning things the hard way, I thought if would be worth going over my experiences with building up and running a small farm. Our focus has been to produce meat, vegetables and preserves for ourselves and barter with any extra we may produce.

Most of us didn’t grow up on or near farms so we get to learn everything from scratch. This blog is an effort to spread what I have learned in hopes that it will make others more successful and stop them from making the same mistakes I have. I also hope that others with experience will join in with their comments and suggestions.

While it is a lot of work, there is nothing as rewarding as bypassing the meat, canned and produce aisles at the supermarket. The quality of the meat you produce for yourself will be better than factory farmed meat and you will have the comfort of knowing that your food isĀ  not full of antibiotics and drugs.

Happy farming.
